As a parent, I have always been so worried that I am not doing enough as a father to help my preschooler get the necessary activity time needed to help his mental capacities grow. Sure I was making sure that he was getting outside and playing for at least 2 to 3 hours of the day. But what could I do to help his mind grow at a healthy rate? My concern was that he was going to start school behind the other children and I just wanted to make sure that he was ahead of the class or on target with the rest of his class mates.
My answer was to find preschool activities for children that would allow me to engage my son with fun and interesting games. Children love to play games and anytime you can incorporate learning with a game is a plus. If the activity is not fun, then the child is not going to be interested in participating.
Some great ideas for fun games are puzzles, board games, mazes, word searches, and cross-word puzzles. One great game that my son and I love to play is bingo. Where other children in his preschool can only count and recognize numbers up to 12, my son knows his numbers up to 36. That is tremendous and he just seems to learn more every time we play,
Do not be afraid to be creative. Parents that are trying to find preschool activities for children may have a hard time finding an activity that their child likes. Here is where you can get a little creative. Again, my son absolutely loved the game of bingo. So I use that to my advantage an also teach him his letters using a home made letter bingo kit. Instead of numbers I use letters and colors for the board. I made colored balls with letters on them and place them in a bowl. I pick out a ball and yell “Green Y”, and he get very excited whey he is able to find it on his homemade board. So do not be afraid to shake things up in order to get your child interested in learning. Find something that they love to do and make it your own family game.
